Thursday
Well the bank transfer is complete. Yesterday my Social Security check was deposited in Ally bank so today I was able to transfer everything out of my old BoA account and close the account and the debit card and the associated credit card. The change wasn't nearly as hard as I though it would be., as a matter of fact it went rather well.

Today the absentee owner of the park showed up on his a couple of times annually inspection trip. This time he brought some news that I'm sure everyone will welcome, a rate increase. Quite an increase it is too. Annual RV rate is going from $1417 to $1896. Now with my move to a new park next year I'll be saving even more money.

Cardinals beat the Cubs which made for a good night.

Friday
The park owners (two brothers) were back today and they were being followed around by a couple of people that led to speculation that the park is up for sale and these might be a couple of prospective buyers. We'll see what develops.

The heat came on this morning with an overnight low of 50 degrees, but we did make it to 90 for a high.

The scanner was busy this morning as a coyote with about 20 illegals on board decided to run from the border patrol. The ironic twist was the coyote rolled his vehicle on Coyote Drive in La Joya. Mass casualties and one fatality reported. So sad.

Ups brought Mel's new wheel covers this afternoon, so Mel will be stepping proud when he pulls out in July.

Saturday
The highlight today was meeting the new owners of the J-5 Park. George and his son Moses have taken over the park and change is underway. Super nice people from Maryland. The father has 30+ years in the park industry and with his son it looks like things might be changing for the better. The father, son and their wives and a grandchild visited the park this morning and I was able to spend about an hour with them. When we went our separate ways I left with a very positive impression. They have already had someone in getting estimates on sealing the roads in the park. I will update with progress reports as changes occur.

The other good news today was that the Cardinals won their fourth game in a row.

  2. Maybe you should stick around there for awhile, and see how much you will save.

    1. I've already committed to the new park for next year, but I'll be checking back here regularly to see what happens.

  3. That is quite an increase. I guess they figure they need the money more than they need folks staying there.

    1. That rate increase was part of the smoke and mirrors the previous owners used to sell the park.

  4. That is a pretty steep one year jump:( The owner will find out if it is going to fly depending on how many chose to vote with their feet:)

    1. The old owner changed the rates a week before he sold the park and led the new owners to believe these were the rates all along.

    2. Nice wheels, Mel

That is a huge price increase. I wonder if the new owners know how many left this season and how many aren't going back next year.

You keep winning; we keep losing!

    3. They're starting to figure things out. I think a lot of folks will pay the difference just to be rid of the old management.
      Cards blew one today.

  5. For that price increase, you'd think they'd be throwing in a free weekly wash and wax for each RV resident! :cO

    1. We'll see, but you know management makes the park and people will be willing to pay a bit extra if they feel good about the way the park is being run.

  6. That's one heck of a jump in price. But it is still much cheaper than what I was paying. The first Rv park I stayed at is now up to $2,900. and the second park is ar $2,100. Which is what drove me to sell my trailer. I hope the new owners realize what a pack of crap the old owners sold them.

    1. There is a lot of park competition here in the Rio Grande Valley and the new prices will probably fall some where in the middle. Competition is stiff.
