Week of 11/17/2013

Sunday - 11/17/2013
The anticipation of the day was waiting for the Broncos to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night football. The results were well worth the wait as the Broncos defeated the previously unbeaten Chiefs.

Monday - 11/18/2013
This morning it was a trip to Wally World to renew a couple of prescriptions and gather a few things for the pantry. Then it was back to the air conditioning.  This afternoon we had a new unit arrive and move into the May's old spot. There was lots of activity as they set up George's park model.

This morning was a visit to the Doctors office to get the results of the blood work done a couple of weeks ago.  The report was good and I was sent home for another 3 months. Rest of the day was spent relaxing.

Wednesday - 11/20/2013I spent most of the day visiting around the park and dodging the heat. We have been warm and humid for the last couple of days and it is slowing down the rate of travel. More people continue to arrive so the jaw exercising has been increased accordingly.

Thursday - 11/21/2013
Another hot and humid day here at J-5 and a couple more arrivals. Air conditioning continues to be needed at least until the sun goes down. Indiana Basketball was on the tube last night and even though they are playing mostly freshman and sophomores it looks like they have the makings of another good team this year. They won and will play again tomorrow night.

This morning it was off to the dermatologist to be de-stitched or un-sutured, the correct term escapes me. All is well, the doctors was so pleased with his work that he didn't want to disturb it, but I prevailed and got him to un-string me.

Do you remember where you were 50 years ago today? I think most of us our age do. For me it was on the football field playing a game with my shipmates at the Little Creek Naval Amphibious base. Shore Patrol came by and ordered us to return to our ship asap. By the time we got back the ship was fired up and ready to set sail if need be. We didn't relax our readiness until Sunday. When we stood down on Sunday five of us decided to travel to Washington D.C. I'll relate that story Monday.

The worm turned. After reaching 89 degrees by noon the front moved in and by 1:30 it was fifty degrees, the wind was blowing and we ended up with 1.5 inches of rain. That is not my idea of an ideal day. Apparently it's not going to be much better tomorrow.

Saturday - 11/23/2013
Yesterdays prediction was true. After an overnight low of 42 the best we could muster was 49 degrees for a high for the day and it drizzled off and on to boot. Fortunately it being the weekend there was plenty of football to watch. Two teams I follow, Notre Dame and Missouri, bot won, so the day was still pretty good. Looks like we are going to have more of the same the next few days weather wise, boo, hiss. No matter we are still enjoying the good life.

  3. Just wondering you say that mobile home is a park model...what does that mean?

    1. A park model is more like an RV without holding tanks than a mobile home.

    2. I know you will laugh...I thought it was a model home and if you liked it...you could buy one just like it and move it to the park.

      Thanks for the clarification :)

  4. It is freezing here in Houston also. Got down to 45 last night. Only 47 and it is 11:30.

Glad you are unstitched and all is well.

I do remember exactly where I was.,,Middle School gym class. Our principal came over the speaker and made the announcement. The gymnasium went silent.

    1. Right now it's 49 here, didn't do me much good to be 200 miles further south.
      It's good to be unstitched.

  5. John, "rest" and "relaxing" in the same sentence. Shows how your command of the language is superb! Carry on with the enjoyment.

  6. I hope your Broncos do as well in today's game since I chose them to win over New England this week in the football pool my son talked me into. What was I thinking? I know nothing about football.

  9. You sure had a busy week even with the nasty weather. Your end of the week sounds a lot like ours. The rain has ended but the temps stay low.
Happy you received all good news from Drs.
