Beginning to catch up after being internet starved for three days. Tuesday began with a visit to Fort Garland. Fort Garland was in service from 1858 until it was decommissioned in 1883. Most notable was that between 1866 and 1867 the fort was commanded by 'Kit' Carson and from 1876 to 1879 the fort was staffed by the famed African American 'Buffalo Soldiers'.
Five of the original 22 buildings remain and another has been reconstructed.
Seven pictures of the Commandants quarters.
Enlisted men's barracks.
Just a glimpse of Fort Garland then I moved on to Antonito. Here is a look at Cano's Castle another from Roadside America.
Beer can art at its finest.
