Wednesday
Today must have been recovery day because I have no idea what I did all day. A trip to the grocery store was in order first thing this morning right after the refrigerator was cleaned and bleached. It seems as though some wanna be genius emptied the box and left town with the doors shut. With the 100 degree temperatures I was able to grow quite a crop of potential penicillin. The rest of the day was spent waiting for the ball game which didn't start until 9 pm because the Cards are in San Francisco.
Thursday
A trip to find an laundromat was the order of the day. With the absence of management in the park they have decided to lock the laundry room except for the 6 hours a week the park manager in in the park. Very inconvenient, but I found a wishy/washy just a few blocks away and got the job done in short order at a cheaper price than I would have paid here in the park.
Cardinals win and head back to St. Louis where games can again start at a decent time.
Friday 7/4/2014
Independence day 2014 a time to celebrate our freedoms. If I were in Hannibal I could watch Americas Home Town swell from 18,000 people to over a hundred thousand folks as Hannibal celebrates National Tom Sawyer Days. In addition to what's listed in the Wikipedia article a mud volleyball tournament draws 64 teams to play in pits of Mississippi mud. Tom Sawyer days has been listed as one of the top 10 4th of July celebrations in the country.
Happy 4th John ... enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve.
DeleteWednesday: Mel is telling you to quit leaving him behind on your adventures.
ReplyDeleteThursday: Park is telling everyone they should leave.
Friday: Friday is hope day that the Obamanation can be defeated and AMERICA restored..
Nice summary Barney, happy 4th.
DeleteHappy 4th John. I personally wouldn't want to be in Hannibal celebrating - way too many people. We'll just take our small town celebration by staying home and trying to keep the dogs from committing hari kari when the fireworks go off.
ReplyDeleteYou notice I didn't stay around for the celebration. I used to live in the downtown area and had enough celebrating with large crowds to last a lifetime. Peace to the fur kids.
DeleteEven though I am Canadian, I lived in USA as a child. I wish you a very Happy Independence Day! Happy 4th of July! Blessings, Lynn
ReplyDeleteI used to love to go to the park and partake of the celebrations and fireworks especially in downtown Houston. Not so much now, I will not even drive into Del Rio and it is a small town.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th !!!
Enough crowds to last a lifetime here.
DeleteI can't believe you would want to miss mud wrestling. Paul wants to know if the women wrestle also? If so, count him in next year.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th!
Well it's mud volleyball and teams are required to be co-ed. I'm sure we could find a place for Paul.
DeleteHappy Independence Day to you John! :c)
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul and Marti and to you too.
DeleteHope you had a good day. I went and drooled over my friends new trailer.
ReplyDeleteDay was good. I'm thinking you need a new trailer too.
Deletewhat....you have left town already....where is your patriotism......we went down and fought the crowd yesterday. I can't believe you are already back in TX....
ReplyDeleteI lived in the 200 block of Bird street for enough time to never have to be around for any of the three festivals Hannibal has ever again.
