Week of 10/6/2013

Sunday - 10/6/2013
Today I completed a personal best for time lived on this earth as I reached the 69 year mark. It was really nice to hear from so many well wishers. Sports results for the day were mixed. The Broncos won a shootout with Dallas, but the Cardinals lost to the Pirates. Other than that the day was full weekend mode.

Monday - 10/7/2013
The highlight today was the Cardinals avoiding elimination and forcing a 5th game back in St. Louis on Wednesday. Nothing else was going on.

Tuesday - 10/8/2013
Today started off with the trip to Walmart to add to the pantry. I also picked up a roll of quarters to be prepared for the inevitable wash day tomorrow. Unloading the groceries I had another paper thin aluminum Dr. Pepper can self destruct which added another 30 minutes cleanup time to putting the groceries away. At least the spill was all on the floor and nothing hit the ceiling like last time. After that it was time to take the rest of the day off before I hurt myself.

Checked the tracking information with FedEx this morning on my replacement weather sensor. Here is what I saw. Say huh?

Laundry this morning and a quick assist to Mike in reversing the refrigerator door opening in the rec hall. A nice quiet day. Then it was time for the Cardinals so we could move on to the next level. Mission accomplished.

Thursday - 10/10/2013
Today very little happened, a trip to the Dollar Store for some batteries and while I was out a stop by a restaurant that everyone has been talking about. They are supposed to have really good breaded tenderloins. The lady behind the bar assured me they were real good, but the kitchen isn't open and won't be until October. I expect everything in the food department would be real good with the kitchen closed.

Friday - 10/11/2013
The day drug by waiting for the baseball game to start. When it finally did it became a marathon. Thirteen innings later and well after midnight the Cardinals finally broke the deadlock an won 3 to 2.  It was bedtime by the time the game ended.

Saturday - 10/12/2013
Another good day in the world of sports. First, Missouri beat Georgia in football. Then the Cardinals won game two of the National League playoff. One out of the next three and we're off to the World Series. Needless to say with all that excitement I didn't stray far from the TV today. Well that and the fact that it was 98 degrees kept me in the air conditioning.

  1. I've noticed when looking at the TV guide on-line in the mornings to see if there was anything good on over the weekends, there are only sports, sports, sports. You must be in heaven!

  2. Happy B-day a week late. After looking at that FEDEX post - I have no idea where your package is. It could be in Hawaii by now. Watching the Cardinals and 49ers right now.

  3. It left Washington and went to Illinois and was picked up? By whom?

A very happy belated birthday to you, John!

    1. Actually it started in Wisconsin, went to Illinois, then back to Wisconsin and then on to Washington state. Then FedEx gave up and passed it on to the Post Office. Who knows where it will show up next.

  5. Hope your package shows up soon.
And I'm sure you had a wonderful birthday. Your birthday falls between 2 of my grandsons and my sister. Easy to remember.
