Gallup New Mexico

Yesterday I spent the entire day driving in the rain and when I stopped in Gallup at the USA RV park the rain caught up with me again. It has rained every day since last Monday when I had Mel washed in Kingman. I probably could end the nationwide drought just by driving from truck wash to truck wash around the country. This morning I see blue skies, but there is a Blue Beacon truck wash just up the street. I think I'll pass and enjoy the sunshine. My sister Mary Michael and her husband Herb drove to the north rim of the Grand Canyon yesterday and between the rain and the fog saw nothing. They are heading for Bryce Canyon today, I hope they have better luck today. The rest of my sisters and their husbands went to the Painted Desert yesterday and I don't think their luck was much better. They were in Sedona last night and will be there a couple of days before heading back to Phoenix to catch planes home and some of them even have to go back to work.

Today's plan is is to drive the 100 miles to Grants. I will have to make a fuel stop and a Walmart stop and then I'll be ready for the run to Elephant Butte in the morning. Another tough day in store for enjoying the good life.

  1. Sure wish you'd bring your truck up here cause we sure could use a little rain.

    1. Sorry, I wish I'd known sooner. Have Jim wash the truck and maybe my luck will wash off on him.

  3. I love Gallup... we're up in Farmington for a couple of weeks, but don't think we'll get down that say this trip. Hope Elephant Butte has some water in it that you can enjoy.

  4. We stayed at that same campground for several days. It was a great location for sightseeing.

    Safe travels.

    1. Thanks. I stayed there in the spring too. Nice campground except when the planes are landing from the north.

  5. This rain is really getting to be the pits. Nice for you to get to see some sun.

To bad your sisters are having such rotten weather too.

  6. Much better day today. Zion was awesome and Bryce wasn't far behind. Both parks are so different and so beautiful. Only rain on the drive between the parks.

  7. Sounds weird but we sure could use some of that rain in Oregon. Got a few drizzles the last couple of days but not enough to shout about.
