Todays adventure.

We woke up this morning in Snowville Utah, a misnomer because I didn't see a drop of snow. We got started early enough to drive the 50 miles to the Golden Spike National Monument and we arrived there a half hour before they opened. Here is some of what I saw.

Tomorrow we'll post the trains. After we left here we stopped at the the Thiokol complex entrance to view the display of rockets. Thiokol has been very active in building rockets for NASA and the military. I'll post those pictures later. After all this we headed down the back roads back to Wells. 3 vehicles in 120 miles constitutes a back road. Some of the folks on that road live over 100 miles from the nearest grocery store or gas station. That must be fun in the winter.

The campground I stopped at in Wells had no internet, lots of trees and no satellite so I moved on to Elko And have camped at Walmart for the night.

  1. Wasn't that just neat to watch the trains? We went to the rocket place also. Really interesting.

    1. It was very interesting. Not surprised Tiokol had no O rings on display.

  2. I wonder how different our country would be if not for the vision of the early railroad developers.

    1. The railroad made a huge difference in the development of this country. Of course the railroads were driven by the incentives offered, so it wasn't just out of the kindness of their hearts.

  3. Yes, those O rings were not Tiokols greatest project.

So, was the golden spike still there when you left? :c)
