Palo Alto

After yesterdays stop at the Iwo Jima memorial I continued on east the Brownsville to visit the Palo Alto Battlefield National Park. This is where the opening salvo was fired in the war with Mexico over the disputed border and eventually established the Rio Grande as the two countries border.

The visitor center.

A mural of the battlefield laid out on the floor.

Field artillery at the ready.

Where the battle was fought.

Another view.

Information

And more information.

Today we are full on into the weekend sports mode with games scheduled at 11, 1, 3:30 and 7. Three basketball and one football game should keep my attention most of the day. With this much sports on it will be easy to enjoy the good life.

  1. You better make time to go outside. This might be our last nice day for another week.

We visited that Battlefield a few years back. What a nice job they have done.

    1. I've already made the morning round the park tour. All is in order, and ready for the Hoosiers.

  2. You're having lots of fun in that sunshine, John. You keep doing that, and you're sure to invite cold weather! You know how that works. Make sure the thermostat works, just in case!

    1. Make hay while the sun shines is the way I learned it. Next weeks weather shows nothing out of the 50's.
