A birthday story

60 years ago today on the eve of my 8th birthday, a birth the occurred at the old  Blanco Courthouse my mother was preparing for her 6th trip to the maternity hospital, This time in Hannibal Missouri.

The Blanco Courthouse/Hospital scene of my birth delivery by my Uncle Ed assisted by my Aunt Alice.

As an eight year old I has a serious problem. You see my mother had made this trip 4 times in the last 5 years and each time she had returned with a girl. This was about the limit that a young man of eight could handle and to offer moral support to my mother I had packed my own suitcase and parked it by the front door as a not so subtle reminder that if another girl showed up I was going to have to find other living arrangements. Fortunately this never came to pass instead mother created bookends, with me as the oldest, then four girls and finally my brother. We share a birthday 8 years apart.

Happy birthday to my favorite brother
MARK

I have arrived at River Oaks RV Ranch and as suspected, the internet is weak. Even with the Wilson Booster I am only getting a 2G signal. There is enough of a signal to tolerate this place for a week and then it's off to Mission.. I guess I'll kick back and enjoy the good life..

  6. Happy Birthday,John. Maybe if you climbed a tree with your booster, you could get a stronger signal. I was going to try that in the park where we stayed, but my cable was too short!

    1. Thanks Russ. I knew there was a good reason you weren't climbing trees.
