Tore up the road

Today we tore up the road as we traveled just a little over 200 miles. We are now in Fort Stockton Texas and having driven all those miles it is our intention to stay here for two nights which will give us a chance to do some laundry. The determining reason for a 200 mile day is here in western Texas the RV parks are not necessarily located where you want them. I am staying at Hilltop RV Park which for some strange reason is located on a hill top overlooking the surrounding countryside. One event that did occur on today's drive was I found myself starting to list to the left. Once I figured the cause I was able to stop at the Flying J truckstop in Pecos to flatten my billfold and restore some sense of balance.

The rest of the day will be spent in relax mode with laundry saved for tomorrows excitement. Ball game tonight and more enjoying the good life.

  1. Fort Stockton is a cute little town. Last March I stayed at the Escapees Park in Pecos, nothing fancy but the price was right and I think their washers and dryers are only $1.00. I had to pay $3.00 extra for the Internet service they subscribe to.

    1. This used to be my route to Del Rio and onto the Valley. This year I'm heading to the Hill Country before turning south.

  2. I would imagine there is a lot of empty space in Texas with nary a camping pace in sight. Just don't do this too often or you will be infected with PDD!

    1. That's why I'm stopping here for two days, to ward of the dreaded PDD.

    1. You and I both know, when we are traveling and feeding a motorhome there is no way to keep in balance, just feed the kitty.

  4. I had to laugh at you Ruidoso post. I moved over there in 71 and what a delightful escape that was. I lived in my homemade 1957 Chevy cab-over camper. We had no idea about boon-docking, but did it for 8 months. It was so small then, there was not even a stop light and only 2 stop signs in the whole town. I have watched it grow during the years, but still have some great friends there. Hollar when you get to the hill country, I know some great places!!

    1. Interesting to hear you perspective on a two stop sign town to what I saw the other day. I will end up in Blanco, where it all began for me.

  5. Lots of mile today. You deserve 2 days off. Of course having to do laundry sure isn't much of a rest.

    1. I'll guarantee you I would rather drive than do laundry, Jo. Thanks for the visit.

  6. Yes, I'm thinking a two day stop might ease the pain of PDD. Then again, maybe not... ;c)

It is amazing how much thinner your wallet is after a Flying J fill up, bet you are glad you don't have a diesel.
