Quite day

Today's activity is watching George, one of the friends here, preparing to head out to Wyoming. To say that George is a character would be a major understatement. George is an old Wyoming cowboy and he winters here in Elephant Butte. Today he is closing down his 5th wheel for the summer and hooking up his horse trailer and will be heading south to Las Cruces to meet Del, another cowboy who is flying in from Wyoming, and they will pick up a couple of horses to take back to Wyoming to break and sell. Quite an adventure.

Last night I caught a glimpse of the eclipse. The moon didn't do a very good job of blocking out the sun, but I did get a couple of pictures.

This is full on eclipse. The moon is between me and the sun.

AS the moon and sun set together, the moon is to the left of the sun. It sure makes for an interesting picture.

Today the communication battle s on. The local RV repairman says that Jayco will not supply him the parts he needs because he's not an authorized dealer. The closest dealer is in El Paso and Mel is in no condition to be driven that 100 miles. So I am trying to contact Jayco to see how we can resolve this problem. Should be a fun day.

Battling with a manufacturer is not the best way to enjoy the good life, but it does let me ressurect skills learned when I had my computer business.

  1. Oh for Heaven's sake. Why do these dealers make it so difficult to get good service. Just baffling!

Beautiful photos. We got some too but from a very different vanish point.

  2. The funny thing is the whole first page of Jayco's websit raves about the great customer service. They don't seem to understand that actions speak louder than words.

  3. After dealing with Jayco, you may be too worn out to enjoy the good life. :(

  4. Hope you get them all straightened out. If you get good service, tell us about it... and of course if you get bad service, tell us about it too. And let THEM know you will doing just that.

Word of mouth (or internet) can be the BEST form, or the WORST form of advertising, right???

  6. I love a good fight! Keep after them, not only will you bad mouth them, the rest of us will, too, if they don't give you good service. And that little kernel of "bad service" will lodge in our brains, to come back up when we or our friends next think of buying.

I was going to fight one of my suppliers (my converter issue), but I just didn't have the energy - I want to enjoy my life. So I put a long tirade on my blog - permanently - on the left side. And I put the same thing in all the reviews I could find on-line for RV service companies. That made me feel better, and I hope it saves someone from getting the same treatment. :)

    1. I agree, I worked 11 years as a manager with J C Penney and you can bet it was drilled into my brain the value of customer service. A lesson not forgotten.

  8. OH Why must we have to fight for these kinds of thing. How stupid of them to not sell these parts to you guy. Maybe they want to drive to you so they can charge you ten times the actual cost.

    BTW your pictures are great.
