A memorial

Yesterday it was so fitting day to have Sharon's Memorial sandwiched between Military Wives Appreciation Day and Mothers Day, because Sharon was both. Sharon and Clay had as Clay said "a wonderful ride" that lasted 55 years. They had their daughter, Karen, in Washington while Clay was between enlistments. Then thanks to precise military planning the oldest son, Drais, was born in Idaho and the youngest son, Mark was delivered in Guam. They then proceeded to Alaska  where the children were raised. In standing on the sidelines and watching the family come together from Utah, Alaska and Idaho and then seeing the grandchildren arrive from Colorado and Arizona I was able to witness the joy in their faces as they remembered their mother/grandmother with stories of the love they all shared.

Some of the folks in attendance watch a video of Sharon's life that some of her friends had put together.

The oldest son shares the thanks of the family to the folks in attendance and remembers his Mom.

Clay offers his thanks to everyone gathered.

A day well spent remembering a life well lived.

This morning after the walk I joined the family and some other family friends for Mimosa Sunday which, as I understand it, is a bit of a family tradition.

The rest of the day will be spent watching the Cardinal game and I'm sure we will work in more visiting as we continue to enjoy the good life.

    1. It's always special to examine any marriage that has endured over time. No shortage of memories to talk about.

  6. Thank you John for sharing some of the memories and images of our celebration of Mom's life. It was a sad, special time for us, but our family felt the embrace of compassionate friends that Mom and Dad have made there in EB, NM. Our 'family' grew stronger ... and a bit larger this last week thanks to the kindness from you and others. We'll be tracking your travels going forward! All our best, Kitty & Drais
