New complaint

We have worn out the complaint of cool weather and rain so today the weatherman gave us something new to complain about. The heat is approaching 80 degrees and the humidity has already passed that mark, so all of a sudden it's hot and sticky. The nice thing about the weather is there is always something to complain about.

This morning it was  head for Wal-mart to lighten the billfold day. I even amazed myself at what an efficient job I did, but the flip side is that for the next few days we'll be eating on the high side of the hog. It still amazes me how much stronger I'm getting , as a boy working at a grocery store it used to take me several trips to carry out $25.00 worth of groceries. Now I can do it in a single trip.

The rest of the day will be for recovery after all the morning activity of unhooking, going to Wal-mart and hooking back up. I'm heading for the refrigerator  to see what I can find to help me enjoy the good life.

  1. I can remember when I was first married. I spent about $12 and got two big bags of groceries. Don't know why that sticks in my mind, but it does.

    1. Donna K I remember our first food budget was $15.00 per week and occasionally we could fit steak into the budget. I would sure hate to survive on $15.00 a week now.

  2. Why not go beyond the groceries to the distant memory of .30 cents a gallon for gasoline. A fillup used to be $15.00 now today I fillup for $85.00.

    1. You're right. I worked at a boat harbor on the Mississippi in high school and gas was .29 cents and uptown it was a quarter.

  3. I remember the gas prices and we would ride all around and then we all realized we didn't even have .30 to put together hahaha. The guy gave me 2 gls and told me to go home. And yes I had a job. Oh those were the days.

    1. Are we to the point where we can remember our childhood, but not yesterday?
