Just a sittin.

We are now enjoying our second day in Del Rio. Sometimes it's good to just sit and catch your breath. Monday's adventure finished up with a visit to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. The layout of this zoo is unique, its 1.3 mile trail is laid out in life zones and sits on top of a mesa. Starting at the sandhills and working your way up you will see desert uplands, the arroyo and finally the pinon and juniper zone. As you walk the trail each plant is identified. After the flora the zoo opened out and the first visited area was the aviary.

This Blue Jay really wanted to join me on the outside.

This raven would have rather had me for lunch.

 About the golden eagle

 Impressive.

Then we started seeing animals. Ugly first.
 One mean critter.

He could also use a bit of deodorant.

Not even a mother could love that face.

Then beautiful.
 The Mexican Lobo or wolf.

This animal is endangered and the zoo has a special restoration program in process to save them.

Tomorrow we will look at the prairie dogs and the hoofed animals and maybe some cats. The rest of today will be spent enjoying the good life.
