Anaszi Heritage Museum Part 2

As promised, today we'll go into the museum and I'll show you what was seen there. There were several displays tracing the history of the Anasazi culture. The work Anasazi or Ancient Ones does not refer to a particular tribe but collectively a group of people that occupied these lands until about 1200 AD. They were a Pueblo culture meaning the built structures and farmed rather than being nomadic hunters. They left the four corners area between 1200 and 1300 AD and dispersed to the south when the weather patterns changed and the growing seasons made farming more difficult in this area.
The question was...what was the purpose of the small pots? Were they ceremonial or toys for children or did they serve a practical purpose. The answer remains unclear.
Some of them were really small.
There was also a nice collection of recovered pottery to view.
One of the exhibits was a reconstructed pit house that let us glimpse into the life of the Anasazi.

Once we left the museum we scouted around the grounds a bit before returning to town and I have  a few pictures to show the flowers we saw and a couple of pictures from in town to share tomorrow. The only thing missing on this trek were Julie and Steve who had other commitments for the day. We are planning a trip to Chaco Canyon this weekend and they will be joining us then if all goes as planned.

Today we have an afternoon ballgame and I plan on researching a bit more about Chaco Canyon and spending some time enjoying the good life.
