Pendleton, Oregon

I have moved north to the Indian Casino just south of Pendleton, Oregon. Today's travels took me through Baker City Oregon and over the Blue mountains. A stop was made in Baker City to see the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.  After a climb up Flagstaff Hill, which Mel handled with no problem we spent about 3 hours touring the museum. Here are some of the sights.
Outside is a display of wagons.
Inside we take a walk along the Oregon Trail, starting in Independence.
Displays cover life on the trail.
A display of the difficulties encountered.
From the museum on top of Flagstaff Hill ruts are still visible that were mad over 100 years ago.
A look out the window at some of the ruts.
Mr. Bison was there to greet us.
This scene depicts trade between the pioneers and the Indians.
This was tales around the campfire.

The campground I'm in tonight is attached to an Indian Casino just south of Pendleton. One fortunate thingis that they have WIFI because the satellite is not locking onto a signal. I don't know if I've exceeded the northern footprint of the satellite I'm using or the mountains to the south are blocking the signal. I'll have to do a bit more research to find out. In the meantime I'm going to kick back and enjoy the good life.

  1. Too bad your sisters aren't with you. They can't seem to pass up a casino. They found one on the Alaskan cruise and managed to drop a few dollars.
    We are all home now.

  2. Hi John,
Dave & I stopped at that museum in Baker City. Wasn't it something to see the ruts from the wagons!
