Today we moved north and crossed the Columbia River into the state of Washington and added this to Mel's states seen map. We are now in the town of Sunnyside. To get here we took a round about way to get here. Once we crossed the Columbia river we turned west on Highway 14 and traveled along the Columbia river for about 10 miles. We the turned north on highway 221 and climbed over the hills Mel got a little exercise when we descended a 6% grade for about 4 miles on the way into the town of Prosser where we hit highway 22 and back to I-82 and into Sunnyside. We again tried to deploy the satellite with no success so until I get back further south I will be relying on campgound WIFI to access the internet.
The Yakima Valley, where I'm located is big time farming country and the area I'm in is wine country. There are rows and rows of grape vines along the highway and each exit seems to have a winery. I suppose one could have a pretty good party just moving from tasting room to tasting room.
One advantage of moving north in the summer is the cooler temperatures. Today in Zapata it's 84 degrees and here it's only 103 according to my weather center Inside, on the computer is today's way to enjoy the good life..
The view from the top of that grade going down to Prosser is really beautiful in early spring.
