Chores to do

Today we have been working on the getting underway chores. The first thing to accomplish was the dumping of the holding tanks. This required a bit of effort because the site I'm in required me to pull way forward in order for the satellites to get a clear view of the sky. Of course the sewer hook up was at the extreme back of the site and my 15 foot sewer hose just wouldn't make the 30 foot distance. So I had to retract the slides and the satellite  and back Mel closer to the sewer. After the tanks were emptied and the fresh water filled the process was reversed and the homestead was reestablished. A little over an hour to do a 10 minute job. Next on the agenda will be a couple of loads of laundry and then preparations for getting under way will be complete until in the morning when we hit the road.

The park is practically empty which is really a surprise. A park like this with river access should be enjoyed by more people. I talked to Judy, the owner, this morning and she said she didn't understand it either, but she does have several reservations for the weekend.

We are just around the bend from the Farewell State park. The park got its name from its location on the Snake river. After several weeks of following the river the pioneers chose this point to bid farewell to the river and start their trek over the mountains to the coast. Tomorrow I plan on stopping at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center to learn more of the history of the Oregon Trail

One last look at the Snake river.

Well it's back to the chores and another attempt to enjoy the good life.
