Calm at last

The wind has finally stopped blowing after gusts yesterday of 40 miles an hour and steady winds of 20+ mph. Lasts nights low was 37 degrees, but it is supposed to start a warm up for the next few days.

Resuming the catch up of my travels after I left the Farragut Naval Training Base on Saturday I drove about 75 miles to Kellogg Idaho which is an old mining town. Mel and I found a nice place alongside the road to park for a couple of days.
This was our location at Kellogg. The paved area in the foreground is a bicycle path that runs the entire width of the Idaho panhandle. It was a railway right of way that was converted and during the day it was well used.
To get to the campground we had to cross a small stream which ran right in front of where we were parked.
This is a picture of the stream looking east and the next view is looking west.
It was sure relaxing to sleep with the sound of the stream working its way out of the mountains and across the creek bed.

The drive to Kellogg brought back a few flashbacks of driving the big rig in this country in the winter. The memories were triggered by signs reading 'chain up area ahead' and 'chain removal area ahead'. There were also a couple of those truck run away ramps to remind you that 'Toto we're not in Kansas any more'. With a couple of 6% grades Mel got a good workout.

Today a little exploring of the area is in order in an effort to enjoy the good life.
