Zapata deluge

Last night at 2:46 am while I was busily engaged in studying the back of my eyelids there arose such a commotion that I was no longer able to continue my endeavors of searching out sugar plums. The heavenly alarms had been set off to warn of the approaching thunderstorm. Lights flashed, wind blew and if thunder is indeed the angels bowling then all lanes were open for business. Then the skies opened up and let go all the rain we had been denied since I arrived on October 13th. By 2:51 my gauge had captured one half inch of moisture and by 2:56 we were up to three quarters of an inch. Then as quickly as it had blown in it was over. Three quarters of an inch of rain in 10 minutes and nothing more the rest of the night.

Another interesting development in the park happened last night about 4 o'clock. A group of traveling asphalt folks who 'had just completed a job down the street and happened to have a little left over' came into the park and began patching the streets. The crew had the usual assortment of characters that you wouldn't want to encounter in a dark alley. They went right to work and with an hour they had completed their task, collected their money and were gone. I will have to say I was rather surprised, after last nights rain, to see the evidence of their work still remained.

Here's the crew hard at work ant the residents keeping an eye on their belongings.

Today we are headed for 73 degrees and we have just a slight breeze, so it should be a good day for enjoying the good life.
