Not requested

Today is not the day we requested. Currently it's 42 degrees and not expected to go much higher. Along with the cool temperatures we have had about.2" of drizzle and the humidity is running at 85%. The sort of cold that chills one to the bone. This is the kind of day made for curling up in front of the fireplace with a good book. Unfortunately Mel doesn't have a fireplace, fortunately I do have a good book to occupy my day. I'm re-reading Mark Twain's Life on the Mississippi. Parts of the book have caused a fair amount of reminiscing back to my days in high school in Hannibal, Missouri when I was a genuine 'river rat' and ran the Hannibal Boat Harbor during my summers. I was on the docks from sunup to sunset seven days a week all summer long. To me it was a dream job that I probably would have paid to have the privileged. The next book in line will be The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which could have been my childhood biography. Climbing the hills surrounding the town and exploring the many caves in the area was a way of life for a boy in the 50's.

So today it will be a day for reliving the past while waiting for the weather to improve. Memories are just another way to enjoy the good life.
