Today it is winter in south Texas. The current temperature is 61 degrees and it is not expected to get much warmer as the day goes on. The sun has disappeared behind a layer of clouds and early this morning we actually had a few drops of rain.
Today's plan is for a group trip to San Ygnacio which is 14 miles northwest of Zapata and is the oldest town in Zapata County. San Ygnacio traces its history back to 1830 when an sandstone home, know as Trevino Fort, was built there by Jesus Trevino. Today the town opens several of these historical homes for the annual Christmas tour. It should be an interesting day of enjoying the good life while gathering a bit of history.
