Down to the lake

Yesterday afternoon I took a walk down to Falcon Lake to check out the lake level. The lake is currently at 303' above sea level after reaching a record high on July 17th of 309.31'.

The concrete launch ramp just came out of the water in the last week as the lake slowly recedes back to normal levels.

There is still lots of shoreline that is under water and a lot of new places for the fish to hide from the die hard fishermen. As one fisherman told me they will have to learn how to fish the lake all over again.

This is a look across the lake towards Mexico. If you notice by the end of the dock I caught a fish in mid flight, no doubt jumping for joy at the prospect of the winter Texans returning. Let the games begin.

I have had several people ask where are we located in relation to where the violence that has been on the news in the last two weeks. First, understand this is a big lake of over 90,000 acres and the U.S, side is being well patrolled.

The cluster of dots on the right is where we are at 4 Seasons RV Park. On the left the single dot is the church in Old Guerrero. The area over there is no mans land and has been for some time. Not a place to go sightseeing.

This morning I had a nice visit with Fran and Marv who arrived just after me on Wednesday from the north. This afternoon will be spent doing more visiting and enjoying the good life.
