Yesterdays trip to Laredo was a success. I was able to exercise Mel and and lighten the load of cash I was carting around in my back pocket. Roger rode along and when we left it looked likely that we would encounter rain, but none was found and by the time we returned the sun was shinning and temperatures had warmed and we ended up with a nice day although it was still a bit chilly.

When I returned from Laredo I finally heard the rest of Gary's fish story. I seems that as when he was landing that 9.5 pound bass his fishing partner Jim went reaching for the net to land him and lost his balance and ended up in the lake. Jim reported that at 62 degrees that water wasn't conducive to spending a lot of time submerged. A true fisherman's nightmare, 'do I save my fish or my partner'? Somehow Gary managed to do both.

Today we have started off overcast and temperatures in the mid 50's. Everyone around here is wondering when this weather is is going to return to more normal temperatures. I just helped Harley get in his truck, Annis is driving him to Laredo for more physical therapy. He is able to use his walker to get in and out of the house and is really doing well.

The propane man was by this morning and Mel's tank was filled. This season we have already gone through twice as much propane as in previous years and the end isn't in sight yet.

This afternoon will be spent enjoying the warmth inside and maybe some studying for the big  trivia tournament coming up this Friday. Just trying to enjoy the good life.

  1. In my two years so far, heating with electric or propane for the furnace has worked out within a couple of dollars a month the same. Sometimes one or the other was cheaper. So I use electric heat 98% of the time. The furnace card failed last year and I said so what.

  2. Barney, we are in the high priced electric zone here, 19.5 per KW. Propane is a much better bargain here. I do have electric back up if needed.
