11/2/2014 - 11/8/2014

The week started with an extra hour of sleep, but it didn't make me any less grumpy as I watched the Patriots hammer the Bronco's.

Monday was a trip to Walmart to stock the pantry and get ready for the cold front arriving tomorrow.

I also made a huge technology step today as I upgraded from my flip phone to an Android Tracfone. The only problem with the upgrade was the requirement of a new phone number. I reluctantly surrendered my 25 year old phone number and will begin memorizing my new number. Should have it down pat in another 25 years.

Tuesday saw more arrivals at the park including David and Lynetta. They are also ex-pats from J-5 and have just bought a park model here at Val's.
On schedule the cold front arrived and the rain began.

Wednesday brought temperatures on the mid 60's and more rain. All activity called on account of rain.

Thursday I had a pleasant surprise as Roger and Donna and Harley and Annis came down from Zapata to have lunch. They are good friends and always call when they are in town. We were neighbors at Four Seasons in Zapata for three years. We had a nice visit and then I watched the two women buy out the gift shop at Cracker Barrel.

Friday I spent the day on the computer in chat mode with Trakfone trying to get my minutes transferred from my old phone to my new phone. It only took four representatives, but we finally got the job done. The reason it was done in chat is that they had disabled my old phone, but had not enabled the new phone because it had no minutes. Classic Catch 22.

Bad football day on Saturday, two of the three teams I follow lost. The third one didn't play to spare me the trifecta. It finally stopped raining with a net total of 2.76 inches during the week. Back to better weather for a few days.

    1. I'm sure you'll get plenty of chances between now and Christmas. Pretty sure there are a couple of shops in Houston waiting for you.

  2. If you got a Tracfone, you should have called them and had them activate it with your existing phone number. Then you can transfer that number to any other new Tracfone, if you get another one. We've been using them for years. Donna lost hers awhile back, and I deactivated it, then she bought one on Amazon, which was less than on the Tracfone site. They transferred her phone number to that phone, as well as all the unused minutes and service days remaining on the old phone. The other day I was out in the motorhome, and guess what I found sitting on the table? The lost phone. Oh well, now we've got a spare if we ever need to replace hers or mine in the future. I got mine on Amazon, and then awhile back I bought another one just like it on Amazon, so I could take the battery out of it and put it in my phone. Cheaper than buying another battery, and works fine. Guess I'm a cheapskate.

    1. I got mine on Amazon too, real good buy. Their Tech's said no porting on my original number for some reason. I hope to get a better explanation now that I have a working phone. I plan to call tomorrow. I have been on Trakfone for about 7 years with my old number. Glan you located the old phone.

  3. Welcome to modern technology. Did you have to go through all those phone reps to find one that spoke passible English?

    1. That was probably the case although they typed pretty good English in the chat room.

  4. I used to use trakfone but trying to put the new minutes on it gave me a headache. Changing phones is a headacke anyway you look at.

I love shopping at Cracker Barrel always go there around Christmas. Even better after for the sales.

    1. I replace my phone about every 10 years so by the time I get the new one I've forgotten what a pain it is.

  5. It does seem that getting a new phone always involves a fair amount of drama:(

    1. Sometimes life gets too simple and it's time to add some drama, a phone seems the easy way to get that infusion.
