10/5/2014 - 10/11/2014

The week started off with a Bronco win against the Cardinals so it was off to a good start.

Monday was my younger brothers birthday and when he has a birthday I get to have one too. He is the youngest and I am the oldest and there are four sisters in between us and we just happened to share the same birthday. When mom went to the hospital for the last time I actually had a bag packed and threatened to leave if she returned with one more of those darn girls. This was a milestone birthday as I start my 71st year.
Cardinals win as a birthday present to me.

Tuesday was another good day and the Cardinals won and are moving on to the NLCS.

Wednesday saw a trip to Wal-mart to refill the pantry and then I watched the world go by for the rest of the day. Pretty entertaining.

I also had company Wednesday. In the morning Mike stopped by. He was also a former J-5er, but moved out this year. Then later in the evening Mike and his wife Shirley dropped by and brought along Jack and his wife Ellie for a nice visit and plenty of catching up.

Thursday housecleaning time. I did as much as I could, but my bedroom slide has stopped functioning and until I get it fixed there isn't much room to move around in the bedroom. Hopefully Revel will return to the Valley soon and we can get it fixed.

Friday was another quite day in anticipation of a busy sports day tomorrow.

Saturday was a tough day 3 out of the four teams I follow lost yesterday, including the Cardinals who lost the first game of their series with the Giants. I will be hoping for a better result Sunday.

The coming week appears to be a busy one. Monday labs in preparation for a visit with my doctor on Friday. stitches out on Wednesday and lunch with friends on Thursday. Makes me tired just thinking about it.

Just part of continuing to enjoy the good life.

  1. Manning and the Broncos did pretty good against that Arizona defense, eh? There was the usual talk from the sporting press about how Peyton may have the toughest time against them, but I guess he showed 'em! Glad to hear you're getting your stitches out. You know, John, you could leave them in until after Halloween and try to scare away all those pesky trick or treaters who want to take your candy. Pat the lab on the head for me. LOL

  2. The only one we seem to have trouble with are the Seahawks, maybe later in the year we can get them. I would leave the stitches in, but in a 55+ RV Park these folks aren't afraid on anything.

  3. I think I'd rather have a blood draw than visit the dentist, which is what I have to do tomorrow. :P

  7. I just hate it when a slide...doesn't. Hope you get it fixed soon, easily and cheaply. After all, dust never sleeps and you don't want it to build up in the slide any more than you have to... ;c)

    Happy birthday, too!

    1. You are right, slides should slide. Fortunately it's in the retracted position.
