6/7/2014 - 6/9/2014

Saturday
Weekend mode is in full force. I watched the Cardinals start another winning streak and then I watched a Triple Crown bid fall flat. Good day of doing little to nothing.

Sunday
More baseball today as the weekend mode is continued. The Cardinal winning streak has soared to two in a row with a day off tomorrow to regroup.

Mail arrived in the box today, it probably arrived in the park yesterday, but service isn't very good. There wasn't anything important so it all went to file 13.

Monday
The day started earlier than planned with a banging on my door and Winnie telling me there was an emergency. Elvetta Swanson had fallen and couldn't get up. I made the call to 911 to summon help which is the extent of my medical qualifications. She did want the call made, but I found later she had been on the floor since last night without help. Husband Bob just sat in the chair and watched he until he asked Winnie for help this morning. Sometimes old folks can be very bull headed.

No ballgame today so I'll be able to rest up.

The war has begun. This morning I noticed some small sugar ants, or at least that's what I call them, hanging around the stove. Out came the Terro and soon I had many ant as they all showed up from miles around to sample the goodies. Reports from the home front will be posted as we make headway in the war of the ants. I also made two trips around Mel with Ortho Home Defense in hand. This is serious business.

  1. Sounds like you've had a busy week. Maybe you ought to rest a bit before you tackle the next one? ! :)

  2. Are you kidding??? The husband sat there are watched her until he called someone in the morning? Does he not know how to call 9-1-1? I wonder if he is suffering from dementia. That could have been really bad, right? Geez, that poor woman.

Good luck in your the War with the Ants. I've never had ants, only MICE. I think I'd rather have ants.

    1. They're both in their 80's and she yelled at me when I insisted on an ambulance. I'm not sure he knew what to do.
The ants will be history and yes, they are easier the mice.

  3. How awful that the man didn't get help for his wife. Last week we had a death in the park but the husband has Alzhimmers (sp) so he didn't know she was dead. Just happened someone realized she hadn't been out and knocked a few times then called the Sheriff for a well check.

Hope you win the war on the sugar ants, nasty little things.

  4. Egads...how could he sit there and watch her lie on the floor all night.

Please post an update on the blog about Winnie. I will say a prayer for both of them.

  6. My Dad did the same thing when my Mom fell and he couldn't get her up. He covered her up and gave her a pillow and waited until the morning to call for help. I was so shocked when I learned about it but Mom said she didn't want to bother anybody during the night. Old folks can drive you crazy sometimes. Good luck with the ant battle. So far so good for us. We did have a moth infestation that about put me in a mental hospital but we're down to only a few a day now.

    1. I think that's the way this coupe was. Even when I suggested the ambulance she really didn't want to bother them.
I have fought the battle of ant before, very common in this part of the country, I expect great losses in the colony.

  7. Having ants around, isn't fun. In the past, when I had a problem, I used Antex; it worked well. Don't place it inside your home/RV. Place it on the outside; the ants will be drawn to it, will enjoy their picnic and take it home to their family! Blessings... Lynn (your fellow blogger) p.s. I've read every one of your blog entries (yes, it took a while) and enjoy reading about your RVing life!
