Sunday
The day started with a departure from my sisters home for the 48. mile ride to the MetroLink station. There we boarded the train for a 30 minute ride to the ballpark and arrived about an hour before game time. A fun day and we got to see a Cardinal victory, 6-4. Then it was back to the train for a ride back to the cars only now to accommodate the 43,000 few close friends that were at the game they were running sardine cans and it was standing room only. A stop for supper in Troy completed the day.
The view from our seats.
Monday
Today we drove to St. Charles, the first capitol of Missouri, to have lunch with a couple of our cousins. It had been awhile since I'd seen them and it was good to renew family ties.
After lunch I drove the 60 miles to Hannibal to camp out in Mike and Janes 5th wheel in their back yard. They are probably the best friends I have in town and it's always good to spend time with them.
Tuesday
A day of visiting. It started with another old friend, Darrell, Mike's brother, dropping by for a three hour visit and then I took a ride into Hannibal to visit Ken and Lisa at the Hannibal History Museum and see the changes since they moved to their new location. The Museum tells the rest of Hannibal's story, which is much more than just Mark Twain. They also have added running The (Unsinkable) Molly Brown Birthplace along with the Haunted Hannibal Tours to their plate. Busy people, but interesting to talk to.
Wednesday
A day off, we did run out to get Mike a lottery ticket and I played the ATM and was an instant winner. we then drove around the area to make sure all was in order. Then it was visiting with Mike and later Jane when she got home from work. Their daughter Nikki and her fiancee Wes also dropped by for a visit.
Thursday
Lunch today with Linda, who occupied the office next to me for 20 years, and her husband Bob. We had a wonderful talk catching up on what's happening. They will busy next week because their granddaughter is a contestant for Becky Thatcher which is part of National Tom Sawyer Days.
Supper was a trip to another restaurant to thank Mike and Jane for the hospitality for the last four days with me shacking up in their 5th wheel in the back yard.
Moving to a new location tomorrow.
Congratulations to your great niece. What a an honor.
ReplyDeleteWell Mr. Congeniality. You sure are the visiting maniac. What fun it is to be with family and good friends again.
Spending time with friends is always fun, whether here or in the Valley.
DeleteA Cardinals game live and in person is good. One that they win is even better! :c)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having so much fun. The Cardinals game must have really been a great time since they won. I remember going to Redskins football games when I lived in the DC area and the trip home on the Metro was a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun time for all of us. My sisters were pretty upset with the young teenagers that claimed metro seats and ignored the older women on the change.
DeleteSounds like you are having a great time. As for those little jerks I would have sat on there lap. LOL That'll learn em.
ReplyDeleteThey just don't teach manners any more. too bad.
DeleteI thought you'd have a lot of pictures on here by now. You must be have entirely too much fun in MO.
ReplyDeleteI've got a few pictures, but I left the cable in Texas.
