Wednesday
Had a visitor today. Barney of The Old Fat Man fame dropped by for a visit. It's always good to see Barney. I took him on a short tour of some places he hadn't been for awhile including lunch at the Riverside Club. After 6 or seven trips to the Riverside Club I finally remembered to take a picture of their famous tenderloin that is the most popular item on the menu. Even though I've usually had my camera with me on previous trips I've been too distracted by the food under my nose to get pictures. Here's what their tenderloin looks like.

And yes, that's a regular sized plate and regular sized buns.

We then took a run by Val's to give Barney a glimpse of where I would be hanging out next winter. All the time chins were wagging as we caught up and discussed future plans. Barney is unsettled on a direction for next year so this was sort of a scouting visit.

Thursday
The day before yesterday I got an email from Millenicom informing me that after only two months my rate was increasing $30.00 per month. As this email was sent on April 1st I questioned the validity of the message and fired off an email to see if this was a joke. Today I got their reply and apparently it's no joke. Even though the original rate is still posted on their web site. Now I'm wondering if this isn't a classic bait and switch scam. I'll be watching to see if the rate changes on their Web site and if it doesn't the BBB and Washington AG might become involved. I began searching other companies rates and found that they are still going to be the cheapest plan for the GB's available so I guess I'll stick with them for awhile.   At least there s no contract and I can quit them at any time.

Cardinals won again today so they are now 2 and 1, a good start with only 159 games to go.

Friday
Today we celebrated a birthday with a surprise party for Ms Winnie. Her 90th birthday is next month and the people wanted to surprise her before they all headed north. Guaranteed she was surprised. (pictures by Mary Rustong)

Happy birthday Winnie.

Cardinals play tonight, but we are under a rain delay for the third straight game.
Cardinals should have gone home. 12 to 2 final.

Saturday
Another dreary day, the temperature stayed in the mid 70's all day and it was overcast. The Cardinals did redeem themselves with a win today and later tonight will be the NCAA final four.

More people have left during the week including both my neighbors on the right and the left side. Starting to feel like the Maytag repairman.

  1. I wonder why that restaurant bothers with a bun?

  3. Don't have Millencom but it sure has been a topic of interest on all the forums and several blog posts. That is definitely a SANDWICH. When do you plan to head out? We had a couple more pull out this morning and I still don't understand why they leave so early.

  5. With sandwiches that big, who has time to use the Internet? That's a week's worth of food for a family of four! :cD

    2. Paul remembers that sandwich very well...yummy.

Paul read on someone else's blog that their rate with Millenicom is going up $30 also. Ouch.

WOW....Winnie looks great for 90. I hope I am that lucky.

  6. Nice looking lunch. I have heard about the raises with Millencom. I know you get lots of bites but I hope not to spend that much time on the computer I'm bad enough already.

  9. Wow, that steak sandwich is massive - bet it was delicious! You've been busy - visitors, eating out, birthday parties. Bummer about the Mellenicom, though. That's what I planned to use if I ever lost my unlimited data with Verizon. $30 a month is a pretty big bump! :(

My dad is 91 and still drives, too. Amazing, aren't they? They belong to a great generation. :)
