Week of 10/27/2013

Sunday - 10/27/2013
Mixed results in yesterdays games. First the Broncos were able to win and they played well in the second half. The the Cardinal game. One swing of the bat scored 3 runs for Boston and put them up 4 to 2. Any hope of a rally in the bottom of the ninth were dashed when the Cardinal base runner was picked off first base to end the game, another weird way to end a game. Back at it again tomorrow night.

Monday - 10/28/2013
Well today it was another loss for the Cardinals and they are one game away from elimination as they head back to Boston for a Wednesday game. It doesn't look good.

Tuesday - 10/29/2013
Today is a travel day for the Cardinals so there just wasn't much happening. I was able to watch the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds out my window.

Doctors appointment in the morning to get the results of the biopsy. We know it's cancer, we just have to find out what kind.

Wednesday - 10/30/2013
Good news today at the doctors. The latest skin cancer is not melanoma, which the doctor suggested it might be at the biopsy, but instead it's the more common squamous cell form. Much more treatable and much less deadly.

The baseball season ended last night and the Cardinals will have to settle for second best team in baseball for the year. Ultimately their poor hitting in the last couple of weeks did them in, but that's not to take away from the fine season they had.

Thursday - 10/31/2013

Not a lot going on today, but it is Halloween and all the ghosts and goblins are on the loose. I did make a run to Walmart this morning and that was the activity for my day.

Friday 11/1/2013
We start a new month and things are picking up here at J-5. the new activities calendar is out and here is what we have to keep us busy.

Saturday - 11/2/2013
Slipped into the weekend mode and kicked back to watch two football teams I follow win their games. That and a tour around the park to check on new arrivals was the extent of the activity for the day.

  1. Glad you had good news from the doctor. Having gone through that same thing on more than one occasion, both Donna and I understand the level of concern that comes from that. Happy to see that you have a full social calendar for November, which most likely will include some good eating. All of the Halloween candy should be on sale at Walmart now, so it's time for another quick trip to pick up some provisions. Those are a big bunch of birds, there, John. They look pretty busy doing their thing.

    1. Thanks Russ. Plenty of activities around here in an attempt to keep us out of trouble. And yes, the birds were busy eating the ant and grub population.

  2. Great news from the doctor. Jim has had several spots of that cancer and just had another checkup and everything is great. I totally understand the worry that goes with the not knowing. We got our November calendar also - sure glad our coffee and donuts are at 9:00 instead of 8:00.

    1. Thanks Sandie, The waiting for results is the worst. I understand the 9:00 o'clock. I very seldom make the 8 am get together myself..

  3. I looked at the calendar closely....what is a coffee muddle?

Sorry about your Cardinals. I have to admit I wanted Boston to win.

Fabulous news about your doctor appointment. I will say a prayer that this treatment takes care of all the cancer.

Love your rendition of "The Birds." lol

  7. Glad to hear a good report from the doc. My last one was melanoma in situ, which means it's contained and not too scary. Had to have two cuts to get it gone but everything is fine. It can be a bit disconcerting though. Hope you can muddle through a few of those coffee hours!

    1. Glad to hear you got it in time. and it was in situ. I've had skin cancers for 10 years and hope they continue to be basil cell and squamous cell. I think I'm single handily endangering the worlds supply of nitrogen.

  8. Happy for the good news. I have friends who battle this same kind of cancers. You will have competition for the nitrogen. Will be even happier when you let us know it is all gone. :)

    1. They tell me the damage was done as a kid when I ran a boat harbor for three years while I was in high school. Most likely will get to deal with it the rest of my life.

  9. Good news on the biopsy. The park I'm in is getting full, too. Looks like everyone has a 40' RV.
