Too much time

Apparently I have too much time on my hands when I'm finding sites on the internet like 'As Seen on TV'. Yes there is such a site for the fans of infomercials. If you don't get enough of these pitches on regular TV you can come here and browse to your hearts content. The question I have is are you eligible to go to this site if you haven't seen it on TV? And of course like all infomercials if you order right now we'll double the offer. That way you can have two of something you really didn't need in the first place.

I postponed the trip to Walmart today so I can watch the double header this afternoon. I remember when double headers were regular fare in baseball. Today it's a rare event. The players are really not getting paid enough to play two games in one day.

To occupy my time between games I have gone back to my library and pulled out Mark Twain's 'Roughing It'. It's his story of the time he spent in Virginia City Nevada. I am now 50 miles away from Virginia City and will probably stop by before I leave the area. This is the town where Samuel Clements first began to use the pen name Mark Twain and there is a lot of history there with the Comstock lode being one of the wealthiest mines ever. Reading a book by Mark Twain is another way to enjoy the good life.

  1. My Dad always loved those infomercials. He loved gadgets. and two for one - can't get any better than that. LOL We had a good time in Virginia City,NV. Always fun to read something that happened there before you go.

  3. Virginia City, Nevada, another place we haven't seen. I think it is a cool idea that you are reading about the area you are going to visit. When we went to Savannah, GA, I reread "In The Garden Of Good and Evil." A famous murder took place there. The book is excellent. Paul couldn't believe all the people walking around with the book in their hands looking for all the famous places.

I had NEVER better hear a baseball player OR another professional player say they don't make enough money. I will personally send them on to their next life.

  4. Say hello to Cousin Sam for me. My family lore is we're related to him somehow, maternal grandmother's maiden name was Clemens.

  7. Sorry about the double header. I will look forward to your report on Nevada City. It took me moving from home before I really appreciated Mark Twain.

    1. Me too, I was in Greece when someone asked where I was from. When I told him Hannibal he told me more about Mark Twain than I knew. I thought that house down the street was where we dropped off the visiting relatives to get rid of them for awhile.
