Cooler

The weatherman says it will be cooler today, only 102 is forecast. We'll see what happens. This morning started with a walk to the convenience store at the gas station a couple of blocks away. I wanted to get this done before it got too warm. The pantry is getting low and the supply of the critical item, Dr. Pepper, wasn't going to make  it until I'm ready to leave on the 5th. So off to the gas station I went where they allowed me to pay the 24 pack price for a 12 pack. It was still probably cheaper than firing up Mel and heading to Walmart.

Today is day two without Google Reader and I have been running two reader applications trying to decided which I like best. Feedly, which seems to be the consensus replacement and The Old Reader which seems less complicated and easier for my pea brain to cope with. Right now I'm leaning toward Feedly because it seems to deliver content to the desktop quicker. The Old Reader sometimes takes 12 hours to deliver an update. Another day of playing around and we might have a winner.

There is an interesting  amount of activity around here as the work campers are busy working on the landscaping. There are only 33 spots in this park with two couples and the owners taking care of things. A bit of overkill in my opinion, but apparently this park was neglected for a number of years and is now on the way back. They are filling all the spaces every night and have had to turn some folks away. The next few days should prove interesting trying to accommodate the holiday crowd.

Picking my next destination has been an interesting excercise. Every time I pick out a likely destination it seems a fire breaks out in the vicinity or along the route there. Colorado currently has 13 wildfires burning, anywhere from 76 to 97,000 acres. Arizona has 18 and New Mexico has 10 active fires.  I'll keep searching for a place where I can enjoy the good life without fire.

  1. I installed Feedly the day Goggle announced the retirement of Reader. It has worked great. I even have the app on my phone.

Praying for all those in Colorado. What a pity!

    1. The substitute readers just give a list of posts that have changed and haven't been read. clicking on the post takes you right to the original post for you to read and comment on.

  5. Jim of jimbo journey mentions that it was over 100 degrees in Libby Montana today. Wow makes our 95 seem cool(not really).

  7. Gee, it seems to be hot everywhere!

I use Feedly and really like it. There was a small learning curve as I had to "play with it" for awhile, but now I even have it installed on my Android phone.

Stay cool (and don't run out of Dr. Pepper!)
