The talk around the west seems to be the weather. Record high temperatures all over the place, but as usual everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it. I guess the high yesterday was 127 in Death Valley and Phoenix was in the 112 range. This morning we are already at 89 degrees at 10 o'clock in the morning. It sure puts a damper on outside activities. With the high temperatures come a significant fire danger and the last few nights there has been smoke in the air as the night time inversion has brought smoke from surrounding fires down to ground level. It's not overwhelming, but it is noticeable.
With the limited outdoor activity I will again be in the house. Cardinal baseball this afternoon and computer project this later this afternoon as I prepare for the demise of the Google Reader tomorrow. Another good day to enjoy the good life.

Could be true but I sure don't want it as hot as it has been the last few days - and other places have it MUCH worse than we do in Oregon.
That pretty well sums it up.
DeleteI'm thankful for our a/c. I was up early, watered the flowers, got hubby off to work (car a/c) and am enjoying looking at blue skys outside while enjoying the a/c inside.

DeleteHey, today it is hotter in Cortez than South Padre, I think it was only 77 here this morning. I have not used Google Reader and have done nothing to change my blog for the deadline tomorrow. Will my blog disappear, will others be able to read it? Why would Google want everyone to start using someone else's program? This does not make sense to me. I have read on other blog that they switched to Blog'Lovin and had to "claim" their blog - what does that mean?? If my blog disappears, so be it, I spend too much time on the computer anyway.
ReplyDeleteYour blog should be fine. Google Reader was a program that tracked blogs and gave notice when one was updated.
DeleteWe hit 101 here today and had just enough rain to bring the humidity up to 50%.
I worry about people that can not afford A/C, the elderly with no families, those without transportation or a phone to call someone to take them to a cooling center.
ReplyDeleteYesterday an elderly gentlemen succumbed to the infernal temperatures in Phoenix since his house did not have air conditioning.
DeleteI know, it's hard to believe that just 60 years ago many of us grew up without A/C and didn't thing a thing of it.
Yesterday we smelled the smoke and had some smoke too. Today we didn't have any problem.

I just saw 19 firefighters were killed fighting the Yarnell fire over by Prescott. More rain please.
DeleteYou should have come east. We are experiencing 70 degree weather with temps in the high 50's at night. Not too shabby for this time of year.
