Research

One of the things I have doing the last couple of days is researching my method of travel and how I might change it in the future. When I first started out full timing my summers were spent moving almost every day as I covered as much ground as possible, seeing as many sites as I could.  I now seem to be gravitating to going to an area and exploring it in depth for a month or more and maybe moving two or three times in a summer. As part of exploring this change in travel methods I'm thinking it would be nice to have the PT Cruiser along with me. Today I have been researching tow dollys because PaT cannot be towed four down.

I've got a line on a few in the $1,000.00 range which would end up being cheaper than towing four down by the time I bought the tow bar, base plate and surge brake even if PaT could be towed four down. Once again I've found that life is just full of little decisions.

A lot of you remember a couple of years ago when I bought a police scanner. Listening in lets you quickly get a sense of what's going on in a community as I move to a new area. Last night about 5 pm there was a report to investigate a home break in. Seems as though a dastardly criminal had entered a persons house while they were away at work and used their shower, their towels and left them in a heap on the floor. Detectives are on the case, but crime is rampant here in Cortez.

Today activity will continue on researching options and just relaxing and enjoying the good life.

  1. We always towed four down so I don't know anything about tow dollys. Hope you find one you like. Having a smaller vehicle to explore is a great benefit in my book.

    1. Moving from museum to museum which I've done in the past didn't require an extra set of wheels, my area of interest has changed and now wheels would be handy.

  2. That break-in sounded like another case of the Wet Bandit Strikes Again trying to Enjoy the Good Life. Be Safe!

    It's about time.

    1. In retail we used to have grab and run thefts, I think this was a grab a shower and run.

  3. Oh gracious...do you feel safe there with the shower bandit running amuck?

    1. There is no way to feel safe in the area of the shower bandit.

  4. At least they didn't steal the towels.

I've used both a tow dolly and four down and would use either method for whatever car I needed to take along. Four down is a little easier, but a dolly isn't too bad. Certainly cheaper than replacing a car.

    1. Thanks Paul. PaT with automatic doesn't like four down. The search is on.

  5. If I were you, I think I'd get out of that crime ridden area. Take a shower first, though.

    1. I am on the alert and I will disconnect the water when I'm away from Mel.

  6. I'm not worried at all about the shower bandit. If he broke in here, he'd have to move out my laundry hamper, dog food bag, and various other things stored in the shower. And maybe there wouldn't be enough water left in the fresh water tank for a good, long shower. That would show him. :)

  7. I think that bandit ought to have his behind snapped with a wet towel!! That'll fix him.

  8. Does PaT have to be towed backward? That was the problem with my Vitara.

    1. No, front wheel drive automatic transmission and Chrysler says front wheels must be off the ground.

  9. Maybe the thief was a homeless person in need of a bath? I have never heard of that before!

I had no idea automatic cars could not be towed with all four down.

    1. Nothing but a low down water thief.
Not all of them, just some with front wheel drive.
