Standing by.

Today a load of laundry was done and all preparations are complete for getting under way. The only thing holding me up are the wind alerts that are posted from Arizona to West Texas. I see nothing to be gained by driving into 40 miles per hour winds. So I'll wait for more favorable conditions.

Yesterdays home opener for the Cardinals was a major disappointment. Going into the ninth inning the score was even at 4 apiece and then we called on our ace bullpen which promptly gave up nine runs. Even the Cardinal announcers had trouble making this one sound palatable.

Later in the evening it was time for the NCAA Championship game. I had no horse in this race, but I was disgusted by the way it was officiated.. This game was more suited to full pads and helmets. The reluctance of todays officials to blow their whistles so as not to effect the game has a tremendous impact on the way the game is played. Full contact basketball is not for me.

More folks pulled out this morning and friend Marty and Laurie have offered their awning for PaT to park under for the summer. That's the kind of nice people we have around here.

Today we are on the way to 100 degrees so I think I will stay out of the sun in my attempt to enjoy the good life.

  1. Good idea to stay out of the wind. We had 50 mph gusts yesterday but today is much quieter. Thank goodness. And near the end of the week we are headed for the 90's. Staying inside sounds like a good idea.

  2. Please don't talk about openers. The Tribe got KILLED! What a horrid way to start the home season.

I agree...last night's game was a bit too physical. The Final Four games were better officiated.

    1. I'm afraid the college ball is going the way of the pros, a contact sport instead of a finesse game.

  3. I avoid driving in the wind whenever possible. I was wondering if you were going to by a cover for Pat.

  4. I'm sure you still need a little more down time anyhow. Nothing wrong with enjoying that for a little while. I'm glad it's windy today here - windows open, fan's going, so I've been able to avoid using the a/c yet another day. Soon, I'll want to be up north though!

  5. You are wise to avoid the wind. What's another day more or less anyway when you are retired and enjoying the good life!!

    1. Sounds like it might be a bit early to head for Pinetop, at least it would be for me.
