Pecos, TX

I left here yesterday and headed west, when I thought I had stopped for the day I was in Lordsburg, NM,  thought being the operative word. While sitting in the truckstop I reflected on what was missing from this picture and I came up with quite a list, things like a refrigerator, microwave, toilet, shower and most of all room to turn around. It was going to be a long summer without these things and it could be easily corrected by returning to mission to retrieve Mel. So at 8 o'clock I started heading east but having come this far I needed to stop by Elephant Butte to see my friends there. It payed off as several hugs and handshakes were exchanged and we all got caught up. Now I'm back in Pecos with 1451 miles under my belt and postponing the start of my summer until I retrieve Mel.

All this is planned to help me enjoy the good life to the fullest.

  1. Now you and I know. Thanks for trying it out and reporting for the rest of us. Creature comforts are important. I still think a PaT type trip might be ok for two or three days. Your thoughts on the whole concept when you have them sorted will be nice to hear. Have fun.

  2. I was going to ask where you had stopped for the nights you were on the road. Wasn't sure if you were stopping at campgrounds. Sometimes the savings on gas is not worth the loss of comfort.

    1. That was part of the problem. Many RV parks today don't except tents and if the do they want $20.00 for a night. Nothing saved there.

  4. When I read the title I thought perhaps your car had stalled...how could he be in Pecos, Texas?

You gave it a shot and found out it was not for you. Go retrieve Mel and have yourself a wonderful vacation.

  5. Makes a lot of sense to me! You've got that great RV so might as well use it and be comfortable.

Are you leaving the car in Mission or towing it?

    Be Safe!

    1. PT's can't be towed according to the manual, I need to clarify this with Chrysler to see if a dolly is allowable or if all four have to be off the ground.

    2. I see a lot of them being towed 4 down but have never inquired about what transmission they had. You have been without a toad for long enough that you could probably live without one now.

    3. Standard transmission is towable, auto is a no-no.
