Lordsburg, NM

Day 2 is complete and we are now out of Texas and have a total of 932 miles under our belt. This morning started in the dark at Sanderson and ten minutes into the drive the check engine light came on. Then next town of.any size was Fort Stockton 56 miles away. I arrived there at 7:30 after holding my breath all the way. AutoZone was nice enough to check out the codes with their diagnostic tool. It reported 6 codes, all transmission related. Not the best way to start the day. The young man working there was pretty sharp though and suggested a dose of fluid for aged transmission, run for awhile and add transmission as needed. After doing this the check engine light has gone off and we seem ti be doing fine.

As I said I'm now in Lordsburg and tomorrow I will begin checking the sites out. Who knows what I'll find in a effort to enjoy the good life.

  2. Stay safe John. Hope you have good cell coverage so you can call for help if you get stuck somewhere out on the road. But that's not going to happen!! Just keep an extra bottle of transmission fluid on hand.

  4. Sure glad that was the cure. How crappy that would be.
It should take you about 5min to see Lordsburg, unless it grew up some since I was last there. All they had was a corner store and I do mean a corner. hahah but had a blast.
