Full cups

Yesterdays mail brought the replacement parts for my weather station. The arrived a day early so I was able to get the anemometer repaired and back up to full strength. The hardest part of the change over was the tiny screws that were used that were placed down long tubes. Easy to take out, hard to get back in.

The first thing I noticed was how sun faded the weather station was as I replaced the one cup vane (on the right) with the three cup vane (already in place on the left). Once assembled and back on the roof I noticed a dramatic increase in the winds speed. The plastic used is not the strongest in the world so we will see how long the new one holds up.

Another UPS shipment is anticipated today. I have ordered a Windows 8 For Dummies book and instructional CD. This is probably a real cop out for someone who used to run a computer business, but Windows 8 is so different from the old Windows some help with the learning curve is needed.

Other than that we have a ball game on at noon and the day will be filled with enjoying the good life.

    1. I cut my teeth on DOS before Windows and have always had a pretty good handle on things until Widows 8 threw all these new curves at me. Maybe it's that old dog new tricks thing catching up with me.

  2. My sister asked me to help her find a new laptop. when I found one on sale with Windows 7, I told her BUY IT!! I actually like some of those "Dummies" books. Well laid out, short bits (or bytes!) of information, and generous doses of humor.

    1. There seems to be a bigger learning curve with 8 than any other transition of Windows I've run into. Designed to touch pads, not computers.

    1. Probably too much hot air in that direction, might run it off the scale, but I'll leave that determination to Donna.
