Changes

When I grew up in NE Missouri, the weather word was 'if you don't like the weather, wait a minute it will change'. In my travels I have found this to be a more universal axiom than a local one. Yesterday it was 103 degrees here, today it's 69 degrees, the wind is blowing and it's making a pathetic attempt at rain. What a difference a day makes.

Since the announcement the other day of the anticipated demise of the Google Reader I have been searching for a replacement I feel comfortable with. I first tried Feedly which is a Chrome extension, but I didn't feel comfortable with it and that could just be me, because the reviews are positive. I am now trying The Old Reader, which I find more to my liking. The problem, like all the readers, is the increased volume they are having to absorb with the anticipated demise of Google Reader. I assume this will stabilize in the next few weeks, but if not the search will continue.

Today's activity will probably limited by the weather, but I think we can still manage to enjoy the good life.

  1. I really like Feedly for my iPhone but not so much for the computer. Paul isn't thrilled with it either. Thanks for the recommendation of The Old Reader. I am going to leave you now and check it out.

    1. I don't use an I-pad so I don't know if The Old Reader interfaces.

  2. I just read from my blog list on the Google dashboard or from the links on the side of my blog of any new updated blog posts of the ones I follow.

Wow .. what a weather change for you. We changed from 90s in Texas last week to teens in Illinois today, and single digits in Wisconsin tomorrow. Oh... and did I mention *S*N*O*W*???

    1. Karen, please leave the four letter s word out of our conversations. I think you have some adjusting to do in the next couple of day as you re-acclimate to home.

  3. I never used Google Reader so I don't think I'm going to miss it very much. Not even really sure what it is.

    1. Google reader keeps track of all the feeds you follow and lets you know when one has been updated. An easy way to keep track of your blogs.

  4. I wish they'd just leave well enough alone. Sometimes the new product is worse than the old.

    1. Google is on a real profit kick here lately, they are getting rid of IGoogle and Google Reader and I wonder what will be next.

  5. We thought it was hot in Arizona last week when the temperatures were climbing into the high 90's. Is it all this global warming that pushed it over 100f? However, weather is perfect right now where we're at in California. Glad we ran from the heat.
