Jam time

One of the biggest weekly events here is the park is the Tuesday jam session. Open to the surrounding parks it's an opportunity for folks to display their talent or lack there of. Since I had never been before I decided yesterday would be a good time to investigate what it was all about.

The crowd assembles

The musicians head for there seats.

And the show begins. Each musician is allowed to play a song of their choosing and you can see there are three rows of musicians so the show lasts about two to three hours with a break in the middle for refreshments. Some good, some bad and some exceptionally bad would be my assessment of the talent, but they all seem to have a good time.

We had a bit of rain this morning and the humidity is high enough that the air conditioner has come on for the day. This will allow me to keep a clear head while doing my taxes. Once I get the taxes done I will be able to get back to enjoying the good life.

  1. The Jam Session sounds like the old saying about taking the bad with the good while Enjoying the Good Life! Be Safe!

    It's about time.

    1. They have so many show up that we have to have parking attendants to fit everyone in the park.

  4. Which side did you sit on, John. I like raspberry jam and strawberry freezer jam...never tried music jam. Sounds interesting...or interesting sounds.

    1. Music jam is mostly sweet, but occasionally there is some sour involved.

  5. We've been to some pretty awesome jam sessions at RV parks. I vote for blackberry jam. Any of that?

  6. Oh THAT kind of a jam session. I thought it was going to be a bring-your-own-toast kind of a jam session...

  7. I was invited to a few jams at Quartzsite this year. I was surprised at how good a few were, but most really weren't that good. I think they all were very proud, though,of their songs, and I guess that's all that matters. They had guts, though; you'd never get me up there.

It was fun, but after the third time, with many singers re-appearing each time, I declined further invitations. They were free - my neighbor and her husband went to one every night. Yes, every night. They really loved the music. :)

    1. I agree with the guts. I have zero musical talent and don't even play the radio well. At least I recognize the lack of talent, others don't and show up week after week to scare the audience.

  8. Reminds me of the jam sessions the family used to have when I was a kid - only we called them sing-a-longs. Whenever friends came over, would invariably end up gathered around the piano and other assorted instruments and let 'er rip! Unfortunately, being the youngest, all the family musical talent was used up by the time I came along!

    1. I was the oldest in my family and we were still out of talent by the time I came along.
