Cold front

The expected cold front arrived this morning with a bang. At midnight last night it was 75 degrees and then about 7:30 am the wind picked up and the temperature dropped to 57 degrees. A couple of people in the park who weren't prepared for south Texas winds lost their awnings to the gusts. There are probably more RV awning insurance claims than anything else in the industry. You just can't fly a couple hundred feet of canvas in a forty mile an hour wind and expect a good result. That said my flagpole flexed well with no apparent damage. Another side benefit of the flag flying over Mel's roof is that it keeps the nasty grackles, who used to love tap dance on the roof in the morning, far away.

This morning was spent in the laundry room because it is too chilly to declare tomorrow a clothing optional day. That chore completed it is now time to stay out of the wind as part of my plan to enjoy the good life.

  1. We know what you mean about people leaving their awnings out in the wind. Last year there was actually a couple who went away for a few days and left all their awnings out. Well you know the rest of the story.

    1. I know, we see it all the time. Some folks are just living in a fog.

  2. Great minds think alike as today being the perfect laundry day.

What amazes me about people losing their awnings to the wind is that some of them it is not the first time.

When you joke about clothing optional days imaging Barbara's surprise when she came across this out in the desert near Quartzsite.http://dewelldesigns.blogspot.ca/2012/12/a-visit-to-nudist-camp.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/WhSoi+(Me+and+My+Dog)

    1. Clothing optional in the middle of the desert is better that in the heart of Mission Texas.

  3. hey, we had a nudist couple that lived in the park where we stayed north of Phoenix for several years. they had to have sign on door they were nudist. And there is a great bookstore in Quartzsite that is run by a nudist....never did see him nude in the bookstore but very close. Think red flowered thong on a man....that should make everyone's day. 8-)

  4. It's beautiful during the day but a little nippy at night. I've even had to turn up the furnace in the morning. Of course, if you're sitting in the shade, it's not quite as warm as sitting in the sun either.
