Recovery day

Five of us made it to Furr's Cafeteria yesterday for lunch where we met 6 others from another park for our Thanksgiving dinner. Remarkably all five of us had some form of intestinal distress yesterday after returning back to the park. A note has been made not to do Furr's for Thanksgiving next year.

Only in America do we spend Thursday being thankful for what bounty we have only to see half the country spend the next day elbowing one another to secure a perceived bargain. The police scanner was kept busy last night with calls to various stores to break up fights, move line jumpers to the back of the line and guard pallets of merchandise as it was moved from the stockroom to the floor. I guess it's now 'peace on earth and good will towards men' unless you get between me and my bargain.

Today the plan is to do as little as possible which will be accomplished with a movie or two either on TV or Amazon Prime. There is always an alternative way to enjoy the good life.

  4. I don't do Fur's anytime. Place gives me the... well anyway I think you get the idea. Sorry it did you too.
Yes today was the day to stay off the roads and put the fall decorations away. And sit and do as little as possible in between.

    1. You mean you didn't feel the need to go shopping with the maddening crowds? Don't blame you.

  5. Sometimes I think it's just better to stay home and fix your own food that won't disagree with you. I used to be able to eat most anything, but not anymore. :(

No way I'd be out in the maddening crowd today...

    1. That would probably work better for someone who had cooking skills. All my recipes start with set your microwave at....

  6. Glad you're having a recovery day. I sure would rather do that than fight the crowds for some perceived bargain. There is nothing I need that badly.

    1. My feelings exactly. It really is a sad statement of what society has become.

  7. Shopping today - no way, no how, absolutely not. People are nuts and greedy. Can't stand it. But I sure am sorry to hear your dinner didn't agree with all of you.

    1. I couldn't agree more. Things have sure changed since my days working for Penney's in the 60's and 70's. Then we didn't even extend our hours for Christmas, 9 to 5 and Friday 9 to 9. Closed Sunday.
