Day 6

This morning the sun made a brief appearance for about 15 minutes and then retreated behind the clouds and from the looks of things it is gone for the rest of the day.

I used some time this morning to update my Minerva. Minerva is a medical flash drive that allows me to input my complete medical history to carry with me as I travel. It also allows me to do a print out when seeing a new doctor with all pertinent information. The other feature is it allows me to import copies of medical directives and emergency information that can be printed anywhere it might be needed. To me it is just a little bit of comfort knowing I have this information readily available if anything were to happen while traveling alone.

Yesterday was major shakeup day in college football. My Notre Dame fighting Irish started the day in third place and finished in first place as both #1 Kansas State and #2 Oregon lost. That's pretty unusual this late in the season to have this kind of a shake up.

Today is pro football day and both St. Louis and Denver on on my tube so my day is pre-planned and I will be busy enjoying the good life..

  1. The sun is gone because the Ducks lost their game to Stanford! I told you that I couldn't send you anything yellow. Congratulations to those Fighting Irish who move up to #1. Told you we didn't need those rearview mirrors. All we have to do is look through the windshield.

  2. I was trying to watch both the Oregon/Stanford game and then during commercials switching to the KSU/Baylor game. Sagarin computer rankings, IMO the best poll, has Alabama #1 and ND #2. It will be a good game in SoCal next week but nothing is over until it's over.

I have never been a "reversible jacket fan", as we call them at IU. Even as a kid growing up I was always rooting for USC to beat ND. I'm an IU fan through and through...even if our football program sucks.

6 days of no sun reminds me of the Pacific NW. It will get better. In the future you will be commenting on sunny 80 degree days while I complain about temps in the teens and snow on the ground. :)

  3. I follow a variety of teams all based on where I have lived in the past or family tradition. My father played basketball for ND and that was a mandatory affiliation.

  4. Mandatory affiliation is completely understood. I remember you telling me that about your dad but forgot about that as I posted. I also follow UDub because of living on Whidbey for 10 years....for some strange reason I also follow college and pro teams and like them to win...but they are based on who is coaching them. I guess I follow coaches, although I was never a Texas Tech fan when RMK was there.

I hope you have the Directv NFL Sunday Ticket so you can follow those Broncos every game.

  5. Day gone our Buckeyes for being ineligible. We would be #1 and maybe be playing your ND team. Wait till next year.

There is nothing but sunshine here in Houston. How odd that the RGV is having such gloomy skies for such a long time.

    1. Can't wait, we have to strike while the irons hot. We had a couple of hours of sunshine today, but the overcast has returned.

  6. That Minerva software sounds like something I may need to look into for my mother as well as myself. Thanks for mentioning it.

    1. It does give you a sense of security, especially when you're by yourself.
