Touring

Today we visited the National Museum of the Pacific War located here in Fredericksburg Texas Part of the museum is located in the Nimitz Hotel.

About the hotel

The hotel that was an inland ship.

One of the major displays is the Plaza of Presidents which highlights all of the presidents who played some part in World War II

Another part of the park and lining the courtyard are thousands of plaques commemorating participation in the War, either by units or individuals. Here are some notable ones I found.

Significant only because this is the type ship I served on.

Some of the wall space devoted to plaques. No count was taken.

To give you an idea how extensive this museum is we haven't evened covered everything outside yet, more tomorrow. Now it's time to recover from a busy morning of enjoying the good life.

    1. There's an awful lot to see there. It would be easy to miss something.

  6. The submarine rising out of the ground was not finished when I was last there. Maybe you can get a pic of it for me.
