There has been a new addition to Mel. Coming to the valley where the hummingbirds spend some time on their migration to Mexico has just heightened my sense of what a special little creature they are so I decided to set up a feeding station to observe them first hand.
I found a feeder with suction cup mounts that fit right on Mel's window.
A few of the little fellows have already discovered the nectar cafe.
And word seems to be spreading.
They seem to be enjoying the mixture.
The little pigs have already consumed about half of the 14 ounce container. This should be an entertaining show.
Today we are, as usual, in Sunday mode which means football and baseball and now maybe some hummingbird watching. Just part of being easily amused while enjoying the good life.
We have that same feeder. I am just amazed how they find the feeders. They are so much fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteBoggles the mind, it wasn't up 30 minutes and there were visitors.
DeleteWhat with a new feeder, next thing will be the awning down and chairs sitting under it.. LOL
ReplyDeleteMike and Jane
Not likely.
DeleteThis past summer I must have shot a hundred Pictures of those little guys just to get a few good ones The problem was there were over a dozen feeders hang from the eaves of a building and they kept zipping from one to the other. It was still a fun way to Enjoying the Good Life. Be Safe.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.

DeleteYeah, it's sure hard to get those little critters to slow down for a picture.
DeleteNo red color needed. Some ornithologists say it actually may harm. The red on the feeder is enough.
ReplyDeleteJust feeding what I got at the store.
DeleteThanks for the reminder. We need to get ours out. We finally broke down and put up to of them because they were fighting over the one. They get really possessive of "their" feeder. And I have yet to get a good picture. Glad the pillow worked so well for you. Well worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a couple of them diving at one another and we might have to enforce some time outs if they don't behave.
DeleteThanks for the pillow report, glad to see you got enough ZZZZs after your long, hard driving days. That extra sleep was good for you, gave you enough strength to hand up that hummingbird feeder.
ReplyDeleteDon't want to worry about you over doing it!
Thanks, but be certain you won't have to worry about me overdoing it, I promise.
Deleteoh, oh, one thing leads to another...next thing you know there will be a hanging plant...full timing is taking over....
ReplyDeletePlease don't wager any money on that.
DeleteGreat pillow you have there.
ReplyDeletethe hummers can be very entertaining. It doesn't matter how many feeders you put out they will still fight.
When you run out of the red stuff just use sugar water.
Whats with the blue underlined words blogger has added to all blogs?
We've got quite a show going on here. They'll be fun to watch.
DeleteI haven't noticed the blue underlining.
I just switched over to my lap top and it isn't there anymore. I will never buy another HP computer again. Touch screen, wireless my .... well you know
ReplyDeleteThat was an easy fix.
DeleteCould you send me a few of those ZZZZs? Restless night last night lol! Those hummers should provide a lot of entertainment. Never had much success with them around here, darn it!
ReplyDeletePlease note: the ZZZZ's in this reply are for your personal enjoyment. Be sure and let Russ know you'll be sleeping in in the morning.
DeleteWell done on feeding the long distance travelers I'm sure they appreciate the energy drink on their long journey. We too feed these little guys and find them quite entertaining, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at the journey they make and am glead to help them out.
DeleteJohn, I have a recipe to make your own water for the birds. It is a bad rumor that it has two be red. Here ya go: 1 part sugar with 4 parts water. Will store in frig for 2 weeks. NO need to boil! Easy & it works. Give it a try. The man box of Dave's is coming along. We are leaving Kimball today!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb, I'll give it a try.
DeleteYou and Dave need to point south before you get snowed in again.
