One of the nice things about making plans is that they are subject to change. Today the plan was to move to River Oaks RV Ranch east of Blanco. However, that plan has changed. Instead we will remain here for another week. Several factors determined this change. The big one was the uncertainty of the Blanco park. The owner could not tell me if Verizon worked at his location which is 6 miles east of town and two weeks without internet would not be tolerable. The second factor was this mornings rain shower which was just enough to make things messy. Third was my weakened condition from yesterday encounter with a bug of some sort. I'm feeling fine today, but why push it. And the last thing that entered into the decision is the town of Fredericksbug itself. There is a lot of interesting history in this town that needs to be explored and that is what I intend to do during the next week. The nice thing about this lifestyle is that it is subject to change on a whim and that's what I've done.
Today we are going to watch the clouds pass by and probably at some point hook up the rest of the utilities, then we will be able to sit back and enjoy the good life.
With today's techie RV group you would think every manager, host or owner of any RV park would at least about their internet ... unless, of course, they aren't techie themselves. We wouldn't go either!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind being isolated away from civilization for a week or two. I'm just not one of them.
DeleteI strongly dislike Internet withdrawal. That is enough to make me move, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it we used to do before the Internet anyway?
We sure didn't have a bunch of blogs to read every day.
DeleteI stayed at an RV park near Blanco State Park last year that I was very disappointed in, I should have stayed at the State Park. They had beautiful pictures on the website of riverside camping. When I arrived the river was dried up and I got bit up by a bunch of fleas or no-see-ums around the dry riverbed. They should have updated the website, but they didn't want to scare people away. Also, there was rarely anyone in the office.
ReplyDeleteEmail me the name of the park if you remember it, please.
DeleteBe sure you are completely recovered before doing anything stressful like moving the home.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Fredericksbugh, we did.
I'm too old to ever be completely recovered from anything.
DeleteSounds like a good plan - I hate to be without my Verizon, too. Sounds kind of fishy if the owner at the park couldn't tell you if they had cell service. I'd say, that was a big NO, he just didn't want to tell you and lose a customer!
ReplyDeleteThat was my suspicion and I wasn't willing to chance it.
DeleteHow could the manager not know. I guess that means a big NO!
ReplyDeleteJust rest up and the go visit the town. Have a good time.
My thoughts too Jo, You would think some customer would have mentioned whether Verizon worked or not.
DeleteAcross the street is the Fort Martin Scott site. The building at the bottom of the hill is the old post jail. It is the only original building left there. I enjoyed looking in it.
ReplyDeleteThe library had lots of neat old architecture accents in it. It is right across from Market Platz which is also a neat visit.
Have fun.
I'll check things out.
