PATRIOT DAY 2012
Today, out of necessity was laundry day. It's not ever going to be something I look forward to, but the alternative is a clothing optional 55+ RV park and that certainly doesn't appeal to me either, at least not until I go blind.
Yesterday UPS brought me two audio CD's from Amazon in my continuing quest to find out more about the guy who used to live down the street from me.
The first CD is Hal Holbrook's Mark Twain Tonight that he preformed as a one man show in the late 50's and early 60's. I had the pleasure of seeing him preform in Hannibal when he attended on of the Tom Sawyer Day events.
The second CD Mark Twain: words and music is a project of the Mark Twain Home as a benefit to the Home and Museum. Such notables as Jimmy Buffett, Garrison Keillor, Clint Eastwood, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill and many others tell the story of Mark Twain's life using his word and some original music in this two disc set. I will have to say it was a very enjoyable couple of hours that I will repeat and would recommend.
Today's plan is to continue the search for those elusive Dr. Pepper spots because once that's cleaned up it will be so much easier to enjoy the good life.
Yep, the day that changed our country, lest we never forget.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those CD's.
A day to be remembered for sure.
DeleteLooks like you're in for some great entertainment, and you might learn a thing or two.
ReplyDeleteOld dog, new tricks, maybe.
DeleteMark Twain used to be your neighbor. Wow, how old are you anyway?
ReplyDelete9/11 - never forget...
Never, not once, was anything said about at the same time. I will admit to be approximately the same age as dirt, but not older.
DeleteMark Twain has some great quotes. A man ahead of his time. You pick the great ones. Enjoy your entertainment!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle, I am enjoying the CD's.
DeleteAMEN to 9/11!
ReplyDeleteBe interesting to hear what you thought of the CDs
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed both of them. The Holbrook CD takes you back to a time when you could have a 90 minute show without a bunch of four letter words. Just real humor.
