Big change

Last night was the beginning of Elephant Days here in Elephant Butte and unfortunately it was the beginning of the rain that has lasted all night and is still falling. The rain brought with it a cool front and after weeks of 100+ degree temperatures it is currently 58 degrees and that makes it pretty uncomfortable for someone who's blood has been thinned by the high temperatures. The weather has literally put a damper on the Elephant Days activities and the highlight event, the balloon ascension was cancelled.

Today I have some sleep to catch up on so it's just as well we have a gloomy day. The Cardinal game last night was delayed 2.5 hours by rain and then went thirteen innings before the Cardinals managed to loose, so it was 2:30 am before I hit the sack. Maybe a nap will be in order shortly. Yes, siestas are a part of enjoying the good life.

  1. We had rain all night as well. Like you our temp is 62. Feels really cold compared to the 92 yesterday.
Too bad about the Festival. Hope tomorrow brings sunshine.

    1. I've noticed as I get older I'm a lot more comfortable at 92 than 62.

  2. Wow, that's a big difference in temps. I always have some sweats on board. Actually, I kind of like them. It's like wearing your jammies, but acceptable to be outdoors in them ;-)
Keep warm & have a nice nap. 92 here today. Yep, we got a cool front too!

  5. That overnight rain held on until after we were on the road this morning before it stopped. The temp is down to 68 F ( 20 C ) with a cool breeze. We waded to set up on our site for the next couple of days just before the next downpour hit. Now it's sunny and breezy but we're Enjoying the Good Life.

    It's about time.

  11. Cool you say. It is 57 here. But that's OK better than the heat. Of course we could do with some sun soon.
