A quandary.

Todays question is....are non-working people allowed to celebrate Labor Day or did we forfeit our right to this holiday when we retired? Something for bigger minds than mine to ponder.

One good day yesterday with the teams I follow. An event rarer than a Blue Moon. Four of 'my' teams played and four of my teams won. I am still dealing with the shock of it all, but I do understand the chances of this happening again are pretty rare.

More sports today and this will keep me out of the way of the weekend warriors, although the holiday traffic is sure light compared to previous years. No matter, I'm out of the way enjoying the good life.

  1. John, I've got to say that here in my wee island town, except for an increase in tourists, Labor Day Weekend is just another wonderful weekend of retirement :-)

  2. My retired husband, after 8 years, went back to work so I guess that entitled him to celebrate Labor Day by pitching Horse Shoes at the Oregon State Horseshoe Tournament in Eugene. :)

    1. Sounds like as good an excuse as any BJ. Hope he's successful.

  3. Even now I enjoy celebrating Labor Day because before I retired I was working most of them. I consider this making up for lost time at Enjoying The Good Life. Be Safe.

    It's about time.

  4. Who are your 4 teams? I don't want to offend you when I cheer for my teams.
I celebrate grandparents day and I am not a grandma. Knock yourself out with celebrating LD.

    1. You will never offend me by cheering for your own teams, what fun would it be if there weren't rivalries? Yesterdays teams were Notre Dame (my father played basketball there), Indiana Hosiers (lived in Boomington 10 years, but prefer their basketball), Missouri Tigers (grew up in Missouri) and the St. Louis Cardinals (just north of St. Louis).

  5. Gee, once you find the answer to your question, then you can take on the meaning of life...

    1. That's what I thought, start small and work up. Enjoy the day Paul, I'm sure during your military career you always had your holidays off.

  6. Of course we have the right. We worked hard. The younger generation don't have the same work ethics we did. So we need to keep Labor Day going.

    Enjoy the day.

  7. It's called UNlabor day for those of us who have retired. Of course nobody actually labors on labor day unless you are in the midst of giving birth so why do they call it labor day? Why don't they just call it Play Day or Picnic Day? One of life's great mysteries.

    1. A very astute observation, lets just call Monday Picnic day.

  9. I have often wondered the same thing...but like yourself will leave it for others to ponder.
