A buffalo museum visit.

Yesterday I visited the National Buffalo Museum. This is not some no account local museum, but is in fact the national museum. If you are fortunate enough to get to Jamestown here is some of what you will see at the National Buffalo Museum.

A buffalo robe and a buffalo gun.

A buffalo rug.

Information about the bone trade.

A description of the white buffalo which may or may not be down in the woods.

Some of many paintings on display.

Another buffalo garment.

Part of the complete clothing line.

A genuine stuffed buffalo.

and a genuine stuffed baby.

A loaner from the National Bear Museum.

The firearms collection.

It's a big collection.

Really big.

A hand made saddle valued at $12,000.00 dollars.

Other local wildlife.

None of which volunteered for museum duty.

Not as sly as he thought.

A buffalo skin tepee.

More from the Bill Cody clothing collection.

More artwork. This one in the fill-a-wall size.

Aviators deluxe.
Today's journey will be to Wall South Dakota for a visit to the Wall Drug Store in a continuing effort to enjoy the good life.

  1. I hope you find Wall more interesting than we did. I hadn't been there in 55 years when it was just a truck stop. Now we had a hard time finding a place to even park and never did find "Wall Drug". Your experience may vary, good luck!

  2. Looks like a great museum. I was hoping your final shot would be one of the white buffalo. I have never seen one.

We will be at Wall Drug Store next week. Been there before many moons ago. Be interesting to see how it has changed...if at all.

    1. Me neither!!!

Wall Drug has become more touristy (if that was possible) since the founders passed away.

  3. Did you get a free buffalo chip as a souvenier?

At Wall Drug, they have a wonderful collection of Western paintings hanging on the walls. And in the back, they have a huge collection of glass slide type photographs that were taken of cowboys at work right around 1900. They are a real gem to look at seeing cowboy life as it really was.

Then there is the other touristy stuff, mostly made in China that you can do without. :c)

  6. That looks like an interesting place. We have two buffalo in the field up the road, and they sure are huge monsters!

    1. They are indeed large. Can you imagine 10,000 of them running across the plains? Must have been awesome.
